There are many myths about who can and cannot adopt.
Lots of people are able to adopt and at adoption@heart we are interested in your skills and capacity to parent first and foremost.
We are looking for a wide range of people to become adoptive parents to meet the needs of a wide range of children identified for adoption.
You can be:
Same sex couple
With or without children
Working or not working
Unconditional love & support
If you can offer unconditional love and support for a child or children identified for adoption, you have the potential to become an adoptive parent.
There are few restrictions on who can adopt. You need to have the fitness and energy to keep up with a child and be able to support them into adulthood. You must legally be a UK resident living in the UK, and have been so for at least 12 months. You must be at least 21 years old and there is no upper age limit. The key question we’ll ask is – can you provide a stable home for a child until adulthood and beyond? People of all ages can, and do, successfully adopt.
We welcome enquiries from people of all religions, races, genders and sexuality and we assess every application on an individual basis.
